One of Nintendo Switch 2’s most appealing features is Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS), a upscaling technology that was not offered with the original switch and improves largely graphics quality and performance. However, like Mario Kart WorldThis feature is not available for Donkey King Bananza.
In Digital Foundry’s Tech Review of Donkey King BananzaIt is noted that the latest Switch 2 -exclusive title does not support DLSS, despite being one of the most important features of the console.
While the game is still praising for its visuals, it is confirmed that it only uses AMD’s Fidelityfx Super Resolution 1 (FSR1) with subpixel morphological antialiasing (small).
“Switch 2 supports technologies like DLSS and we’ve seen them in several games,” said Digital Founding’s John Linneman.

“But Nintendo doesn’t benefit from it at all. Instead, we simply have this combination of AMD’s FSR1 with small, a post-process anti-aliasing. I will admit it, the image quality is decent. But serious, fsr1 again? Come on, Nintendo, we can do better than this.”
Digital Foundry also notes that finer details are less pronounced in the game’s target resolution of 1080p to 1200p using dynamic resolution, but in handheld mode the game seems to “produce a convincing 1080p presentation on the internal screen”.
It is unclear why Nintendo has chosen not to use the hardware’s powerful upscaling technology for its latest first -party games. Interestingly, DLSS is available for the Switch 2 versions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The tears of the kingdomas well as several third -party games such as Cyberpunk 2077.
In Techradar Gaming’s Donkey King Bananza Review, hardware author Dash Wood said the game “is the biggest Nintendo Switch 2 title to date, providing an incredible destruction system showing the power of the new system.”
“It is visually impressive, and although the story is nothing to write home about, benefits from charming and expressive voice action and animations. Throw a seemingly endless stream of collectibles and secrets and you have a fleshy adventure that is a joy to explore.”
