PM is looking for strategy for light loans to farmers

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday ordered the relevant authorities to present a political framework for the delivery of light loans to farmers for intermediate and small agricultural activities.

Priority should be given to deliver modern agricultural facilities to farmers who own less than 12 hectares of land, the prime minister said, while he was chairman of a review meeting on planning agricultural development and agricultural financing.

The Prime Minister approached to prepare and present a comprehensive plan by the end of this month to give farmers facilitate loans and the introduction of a system in the agricultural financing sector in line with modern requirements.

On the occasion, a detailed information was given on ongoing agricultural reforms, the execution of the Agricultural Development Bank Limited and the loans granted to farmers.

Welfare projects

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday ordered third -party validation for transparency in public welfare projects, especially those related to clean water, electricity, communication and education.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards in completed projects near independent validation.

Chairman of a review meeting regarding development projects in the current financial year, the Prime Minister instructed that delayed projects must be completed as soon as possible.

He said that the construction of high quality educational centers as Danish schools in Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and all provinces were a highest priority of the government.

The Prime Minister added that educational institutions were an important part of the current financial year’s development plans aimed at providing international standard education and education for children with financially disadvantaged backgrounds, ensuring equal development opportunities.

He emphasized that water reservoirs were crucial to national integrity, and several projects were currently under construction for this purpose.

He noted that the creation of technology parks in Karachi and Islamabad will make Pakistan a significant financial hub for information technology both in the region and globally.
