GDP-M chief Akhtar Mengal offloaded from Dubai-bound flight

Balochistan National Party-Mengal (GDP-M) Chief Akhtar Mengal was read from a Dubai-bound private airline aircraft, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) said Sunday.

Takes to X Mengal said he was read from aircraft while traveling to Dubai from Quetta and was told by the immigration personnel that his name was placed on the temporary national identification list (PNIL).

The politician also continued to share a screenshot of the immigration data, in which his name was included “with the approval of the competent authority” with explicit directions to prevent him from leaving abroad.

When responding to the development, former federal minister Agha Hasan Baloch and Ghulam Nabi Mari Mengals condemned offloading, while further describing the speed as illegal and constitutional.

“[Akhtar] Mengal is still a member of the National Assembly; His resignation has not yet been accepted, “Baloch noted.

Mengal, a veteran politician and head of GDP-M, had withdrawn from NA in September 2024 over the worsening security situation in Balochistan.

Earlier this year, Mengal had staged a 20-day sit-in at Mastung’s varnish pass against arrests of Baloch rights activists and police action.

His party began a long march from WADH to Quetta on March 28 and protested for almost three weeks against detention of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) leaders and activists, including Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Sammi deen Baloch and had sought their release.
