Previously, James Gunn triggered controversy after hinting at Superman is an immigrant story in front of the film’s release.
Now, he in an interview with EWThen back on setbacks and came mostly from the conservative section, “I’ve heard people say it had woken up and then I’ve heard a lot of people say it is not. I’m curious about what in the movie is considered woken up.”
DC’s head explained his remarks that he made in an interview with The Times of London. “I think people took something I said … the guy to the newspaper in London. Originally he said that [Superman comic creators] Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster were the sons of the immigrant, and they wrote Superman as an immigrant history. “
“And I said, yes, it’s a story of an immigrant, but for the most part it is a story for me about kindness as it is. It’s the middle of the movie for me,” the filmmaker remarked.
“That’s the thing we can all act on is kindness,” the instructor continued. “And then what does it lead to? Well, it leads to the way you vote? Sure.
“Yes. All these things are affected if people just start to appreciate kindness. I mean people valued kindness in the past,” the 58-year-old added.
“It was an American value, was kindness, and it doesn’t necessarily seem to be like that for me anymore. So it was always the middle of the movie for me and it wasn’t about anything other than that,” he concluded.
