The sports world grieves after Rockstar Ozzy Osbourne takes the last bow

Ozzy Osbourne, who rose to fame as lead singer of the groundbreaking band Black Sabbath, died on Tuesday. He was 76.

Osbourne entered the stage for a last time just two weeks ago when he performed a farewell show.

While Osbourne’s musical heritage is undeniable, he also became a well -known figure in the sports world.

New England Patriots were among the sports franchises and sports figures that paid tribute to the late Heavy Metal icon that expressed the introductions of the team’s home matches for more than two decades.

“New England Patriots are saddened to learn about the transition to music legend Ozzy Osbourne, who provided the iconic introduction to Patriots for over 20 years. Compassion to his family and everyone who takes care of his loss,” the franchise wrote on X on Tuesday.

Osbourne’s “Crazy Train” was the chosen walk-up song for much of Atlanta Braves icon Chipper Jones’ Hall of Fame career. Jones remembered for a moment that the song caused a reaction during a game against the New York Mets.

“The saddle over to hear about the departure to Ozzy Osbourne today. I feel Ozzy and I will forever be linked because of his song, ‘Crazy Train’!” Jones wrote on X.

“Quick story… ..Facing mets at home… .I go to the record and say ‘Hey Mike (Piazza), how’s it going?’ He says, ‘I’m fine Larry, but I hate this f —– g-song!’ I said ‘Well, get ready because you want to hear about 5 times today!’ Pretty funny …… resting Ozzy! ”

Aston Villa Football Club, a Premier League football club based in Osbourne’s native England, also honored the godfather of heavy metal.

“When he grew up in Aston, not far from Villa Park, Ozzy always had a special connection to the club and the community he came from,” the team wrote in a social media post.

“The thoughts of everyone in Aston Villa are with his wife Sharon, his family, friends and countless fans at this extremely difficult time. Rest in peace, Ozzy.”

St. Louis Blues Gentweeted a photo of Osbourne in 2019 wearing the team’s jersey.

“Let’s go @stlouisblues! #Stanleycup,” said Osbourne’s post.

Blues defeated Boston Bruins in seven matches in the Stanley Cup final in 2019.

“St. Louis loves you, Ozzy. Rip,” blues wrote on Tuesday.

The Osbourne family released a statement requesting privacy.

“It’s with more sadness than just words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has died this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We are all asking to respect our family privacy at this time,” said a family statement from Birmingham, England.

In 2020, Osbourne revealed that he had Parkinson’s disease after taking a fall.

Osbourne is survived by wife Sharon and his children.
