Islamabad:
Zahir Jaffer, the man convicted of the murder of Noor Muqadam, has moved the Supreme Court to the review of the Point Court’s decision to maintain the death assigned to him.
Review of petitions filed through Khawaja Haris stated that “the hype created on social media” constantly created hatred against him throughout the investigation and trial and even at the appeal stage, thereby significantly violating his fundamental right to a fair trial and proper process.
Review of the petition says that the judgment on May 20 did not address the issue of unhealthy in the mind or the mental capacity of the petitioner raised before this court.
“It is claimed that the placement raised on behalf of the petitioner is of enormous importance, both in terms of the validity of his trial as well as for determining the sake of the petition and/or quantity of judgment,” the petition says.
“As such, leaving this case has indefinitely, which has seriously condemned the interests of justice and the rights of the petitioner as guaranteed by the Constitution in the form of Articles 4, 9 and 10-A in the Constitution,” it continues.
“It is submitted with respect to have been influenced by a planned and sustained campaign launched on social media, among other things, by the complainant, especially against the petitioner, and as such, the learned lawsuit never made any efforts to consider the plea’s plea in the framework of the law.”
