PTI Senate event sparks internal dissent

Islamabad:

PTI General Secretary Salman Akram Raja has opened a new Pandora’s box regarding his party’s seat sharing agreement with the opposition in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Senate Selection.

He has stated that PTI’s management made the decision to beat the deal and the party’s imprisoned founder, Imran Khan, has not yet approved or reject it. “If the founder refuses to accept it, we will do what he decides,” Raja said Monday while talking to the media.

According to Raja, there were two statements within the party about whether to contest the Senate election and that it later decided to contest the election after making an adaptation with the opposition

He claimed that for the four general Senate seats, the PTI leader, as lawyer Zaheer Abbas, had presented names last week on behalf of the founder.

“I don’t think Zaheer Abbas represented anything. In our party, no people make decisions alone. The case was communicated to KP chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur, but I can’t comment on what pressure he might have been exposed to,” he added.

He said the founder’s list included candidates for four general seats, a technocrat seat and a women’s seat, adding that the discussion was only about five seats.
