New research has revealed some of the finer details about why many companies are still cautious with their approach to Windows 11 migration, with security threats and financial effects that prove to be major obstacles.
The Panasonic report found that nearly two-thirds (62%) of devices need replacement or upgrade for Windows 11 compatibility, highlighting the scope of the problem-a number that increases to 76% among larger organizations with 5,000+ employees.
However, despite migration -related concerns, the study claims that many organizations still recognize the benefits of upgrading from Windows 10 and older operating systems.
Businesses still have some concerns about upgrading Windows
Panasonic found that 94% fear increased ransomware and malware risks, if not upgrading, with 93% also concerned about data violations. But two out of three noticed total higher costs associated with migration to Windows 11, where 55% stated that it could add cyber security costs.
Almost half also noticed software compatibility problems (47%) and downtime productivity (45%), and for many (25%), hardware upgrades are delivered with software upgrades, which puts together the financial effect of us upgrades.
With Microsoft, which estimates that ESU could cost around £ 320,000 over three years for 1,000 units, the need to upgrade is clear.
About a third recognizes each that upgrade will give them better performance and treatment power (36%), a more future evidence ecosystem (36%) and access to AI features such as Microsoft Copilot (34%).
Panasonic Toughbook Europe Head of Go-to-Market Chris Turner commented: “The window closes for organizations to make a well-planned, measured and cost-effective transition to Windows 11 and start unlocking its benefits.”
“Organizations that still need to implement Windows 11 migration need support to ensure their implementation is not rushed and risky,” Turner added.
