It’s been two and a half years since James Gunn announced the original line-up to chapter one of the new look DC Universe (DCU) and eventually it seems that one of its most unexpected projects is moving on.
As per the Deadline, Boosting goldA TV series that we haven’t heard of anything since Gunn confirmed that it was part of his and Peter Safran’s DCU chapter one plans, has had its pilot pisode Greenlit by HBO Max.
The series has also apparently found its creator. David Jenkins who are best known for his work with Our flag means deadAlso known as one of the best HBO Max shows, unusually canceled after two seasons last January, is believed to have signed to rope his first post.
If HBO leaders like what they see, Deadline’s sources have indicated that it will order a whole series, with Jenkins in line to be installed as its showrunner.
If true, Boosting gold Will be the second DCU project that has received a development, yes, boost in recent days.
On July 21, Gunn confirmed the lead author of the DCUS Wonder Woman movie. Meanwhile, ClayfaceOne of two DC -Commerce Films set for Release in 2026 with SupergirlPerhaps found its starring role in Star Wars Alumna Naomi Ackie, according to a Hollywood Reporter report, published yesterday, July 22, 2025.
But back to Boosting gold. There is only one way we know if Jenkins is involved and whether the show’s pilot is approved and it is heard from Gunn.
At the time of publication, DC Studios CO chief had not taken to social media to confirm or deny Deadline’s report. I update this article if he does, and/or if I hear from HBO, which I have reached around the upcoming TV project.
Who is booster gold?
Created by Dan Jurgens, Booster Gold-Recently Name Michael Jon ‘Booster’ Carter-is an American footballer-facing superhero that actually comes from the future. In DC literature he was not born until the 25th century, but like Batman he calls Gotham City his home.
Or he used to do. You can see Carter was an increasing football star for Gotham University. After his deathbeat father went into his life again and convinced him to deliberately lose games of games, it wasn’t long before Carter was exposed to his crimes and expelled from studying at the prestigious institution.
However, Carter’s days of breaking the law were not over. After taking a job as Nightwatchman at the Metropolis Space Museum, he learned all about the 20th century’s most famous heroes through the superpowered artifacts that were exhibited.
Long story Short: Using his robot-page kick-spoon, Carter steals some of the aforementioned tech, traveling back in time to the 20th century, and using his newly acquired gadgets to remodel himself as a booster gold, a showboating metahuman that can fly, create energy blasts, get the usual superhumanic skills through his power and of course, of course, time travel.
Despite his debut in ‘Booster Gold’ # 1 in February 1986 and was a member of Popular DC Superteam The Justice League, Carter has not continued to achieve the fame level in the real world that Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman have. If anyone can breathe new life into this C-List superhero and transform him into a household name, of course, it is Gunn-with more than a little help from Jenkins.
