- Trusted Dji Leaker has shared the first teaser trailer to DJI Romo from the official Chinese DJI X account
- Suggests a launch date of August 6th for DJI’s first robot vacuum
- We also have images of better quality of the unusual looking robot quacuum
Rumors of DJI’s first robot vacuum-Dji Romo have flyed around for some time, but we now have our first official teaser trailer, complete with a projected launch date and some good quality images that show more clearly what the bot can look like.
The Video teaser was shared by regular DJI leakage @jasperellens, and is apparently taken from the official Chinese DJI Romo account. It shows two versions of Romo side by side with a date and time: August 6, 20:00. It suggests that launch will happen in less than two weeks.
Launch is especially important because it marks a big change in direction for the brand, which has previously been known to make some of (okay, most of) the best drones on the market.
Although a DJI logo is not found on the product and it is the first white plastic I’ve seen since #mavicair … the official Chinese #djiromo account showed this little video teaser today, showing that they will launch their first vacuum cleaner on August 6th. We have also been treated with some clearer images of the robot wacuum in real life, thanks to another serial technical leak, Igor Bogdanov alias @quadro_News.
👉 I wish it could fly too. Generally, why does DJI need a robotic vacuum cleaner? 🤔#djiromo pic.twitter.com/q3xqmwieotJuly 23, 2025
What else do we know about DJI Romo? Well, I’m pretty sure it won’t be able to fly, so you can bring these dreams of a bot that sheep your stairs up to clean the bedrooms.
From our look inside the quay we can clearly see a dust bag that confirms speculation that there will be auto-emergence of dust (far from groundbreaking, but nonetheless useful). Previous speculation has suggested that Romo also wants MOP capabilities, although I can’t see something similar to a water tank in the dock.
This does not necessarily mean that bot cannot mop, but it seems to suggest that it may not be able to automatically fill the water tank on board or clean and dry the mop pads that are common among other Premium Robovacs.
Based on that expertise we know that DJI Do have, I would expect to see powerful object detection and avoidance. The best DJI drones on the market use Vision Technology and Lidar to navigate with precision, just as modern Robovacs do.
An unclear choice
Both the Teaser trailer and the supplementary video clip show Robovac with a transparent upper lid placed in a similar clear-fronted charging station. Previously, we were uncertain whether this transparent plastic was part of a prototype version, but based on this additional proof it seems that it will be part of the model that will go on the market – although together with a version with a more traditional, opaque plastic cover on the dock.
In all my time writing about today’s best robot wacuum, I’ve never seen one that looks like this. While the shape of the dock looks like a resemblance to Roborock Qrevo Curv, the transparent house, as far as I know, is a unique feature. It makes sense that DJI would try to create a characteristic look for his first step to Robovacs, and it is an aesthetic that the technical market seems to embrace at the moment. But while putting the inside on the screen may work for, for example, Nothing Phone 3, I’m not sure it’s so suitable for a robot wacuum.
Although it looks good on these promo photos, I am not convinced that the Roma will remain quite untouched when the bot is put in the work. Shiny Plastic can attract dust and hair, and it’s rare that I test a robot wacuum that doesn’t end up being covered with lint within an hour or two to take it out of the box.
Nevertheless, I am thrilled to see what DJI is able to deliver as performance in his first robot vacuum, and it seems that I may not have too long to wait.
