On Thursday, the Senate adopted a decision that condemns the brutal murder of a man and a woman in Balochistan, who was made on orders from a tribe’s Jirga. The resolution was adopted with overwhelming support, where Jamat Disadvantaged disadvantage (JUI-F) was the only party to refuse to approve it.
Senator Sherry Rehman, placed by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Senator Sherry Rehman, described the killings as a gross violation of human rights, the constitution and laws of Pakistan, Radio Pakistan reported.
According to the dissolution text, the house condemns “strongly and unequivocally the abominable incident in which a woman and man were publicly and illegally executed in daylight after a so-called Jirga decision.”
It called the murders of a deliberate vigilante violence and rejected any attempt to justify the action in the form of tribal security or so -called honor.
By calling the killings “barbaric”, the decision stated that they must not be masked by cultural or traditional pretext. “In fact, it is a crime that has seriously embarrassed the nation. Any attempt to justify such crime based on” Custom or Honor “is completely unacceptable, as is the whole process of victim-debt,” noted it.
Confirmation that honor killings constitute murder under the law, the decision emphasized that they must be treated and prosecuted accordingly. It warned that the rule of law cannot be used selectively, nor must it be permitted by tribal or informal justice mechanisms to undermine constitutional protection and proper process.

The resolution urged the government to ensure an immediate and transparent examination of the killings. It called for everyone involved – whether direct or indirect, including persons who called or sanctioned Jirga – to be brought to court without delay.
It also asked that law enforcement authorities should be referred to deal with such cases strictly in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code without a compromise or estimate.

In addition, it recommended that the ministries of law and justice and human rights do a thorough review of enforcement holes in existing laws dealing with so -called honorary crimes and proposing actions that are actions for robust implementation.
It emphasized the need to educate and sensitive public prosecutors and investigating officers to treat honor crimes and gender -based violence as serious criminal acts that guarantee proactive prosecution.
The resolution also called for provincial and federal governments to start attention campaigns that reject the concept of honor-based violence and reinforce supremacy of constitutional rights over tribal or feudal traditions.

The killers that took place last month received widespread attention after a video appeared showing the couple was shot. The man who killed the woman was her brother who appeared on behalf of the family and the tribe, said provincial police chief Moazzam Jah Ansari Reuters.
The chief of the tribes, Sher Baz Satakzai, had ordered the killing, he added. Satakzai was among those arrested, according to Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, who approached the media at a news conference in Quetta, the provincial capital.
“We want to make sure they will all be prosecuted,” Bugti said. In response, law enforcement authorities arrested the chief. He is currently in police custody of a 10-day physical custody.
