Rumors of Nick Saban, who potentially returned to the sidelines, ran violently last week, but the seven-time national champion doesn’t seem to be in a busy coming back.

Former Alabama -Quarterback Greg McElroy said on his radio show that he was told by a source can return in the future, though McElroy did not believe it himself.

In any case, college football fans got up their hopes, and Saban poured cold water on it all in a look with “Fox & Friends.”

“You know it’s amazing to me that it came up in the media and the media talks for you and thinks for you,” Saban said.

Then he broke a joke.

“I’ve never really had a thought of coming back in coaching before Tory said two days ago that I had to run the sweeper all below. So while I was running the sweeper, the thought happened to me, you know, ‘When you coached, you had a hell of a much better job than this.’ So that’s the only time I considered it, ”he said.

“I’m really happy with what I’m doing right now. You know it’s exciting to still be involved in the game. It is exciting for me to work with athletic directors, conference commissioners, people in Congress to maintain the integrity of our games and continue to be able to create opportunities to help young people appreciate their future.

Saban did not seem to exclude it completely, but he simply said that there is no “opportunity” that is appealing to him right now.

“I enjoy what I’m doing. I did it for 50 years. I loved it. I loved the relationship with the players. I love the competition. But you know it’s another life station now and I enjoy what I’m doing right now and will continue to do it,” he added. “Spend more time with my family, my grandchildren, my kids, and it’s been really, really good.”
