Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said Pakistan has emerged from diplomatic isolation and witnesses economic recovery and highlights a sharp decline in inflation and growing international commitment.
In a speech with the Pakistani community at the Consulate General in New York on Saturday, Dar said: “We have made significant progress, especially in political and economic areas, in the last three years, despite heavy odds – we are actually an elastic nation.”
Dar, who returned earlier in the day from Washington, said his encounter with US State Secretary Marco Rubio was held in a heartfelt atmosphere and covered key -based and regional issues. “The meeting went very well,” he said, expressing hope for stronger bilateral ties.
Present at the event was Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, Permanent Representative of UN Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad and Consul General Aamir Ahmed Atozai.
DAR told the audience that Pakistan was no longer isolated and now enjoying the support of many nations, the proof of recent high -level officials with China, US and others. He pointed to the reduction of inflation from 40% to 2.4% from January 2025 as evidence of government effectiveness.
DPM/FM said investors’ confidence had returned after the successful end of the IMF program, a recovery recognized by international credit bureau. He confirmed the government’s ambition to participate in the G20.
DAR credited PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif to control the federal and Punjab governments and called him a skilled statesman. He also informed the community of Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), aiming to facilitate investments in key sectors.
He announced that Pia flights were resuming to New York after the restoration of routes to Europe and the UK.
When he valued the role of the Pakistani-American community, Dar recognized their contribution to Pakistan and the United States and praised their unity under previous tensions with India.
He told the shooting down of six Indian aircraft by Pakistan Air Force and praised the management of the Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
Dar noted Pakistan’s Presidency of the UN Security Council-shaped with support from 182 Country and the unanimous adoption of a Pakistan-sponsored decision on peaceful settlement of disputes.
He confirmed Pakistan’s obligation to diplomacy, peaceful regional ties and its outreach to Afghanistan for trade and rail link, while expected Afghan Earth to be used for terrorism.
At Aafia Siddiqui’s imprisonment, he said the efforts of her release ran through diplomatic channels.
Ambassador Sheikh also approached society and noticed Pakistan’s improved global image following the role of armed forces in the national defense. He urged the diaspora to invest in Pakistan and said that a strong economy is crucial to national security.
