TTP Terrorist Behind Chinese Engineers Agreers Killed In Karachi Operation

Three terrorists from forbidden Tehreek-E-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), including an allegedly involved in last year’s attack on Chinese engineers, were killed in a joint operation of the terrorist fighting department (CTD) and intelligence agencies in Karachi’s Manghopir area late Sunday night.

On November 5, 2024, a private security guard opened at a textile mill in Karachi fire and wounded two Chinese citizens seriously.

According to police, the deceased suspects, identified as Zafran, had an RS20 million. Bounty on him and was charged with involvement in the 2024 Liberty Textile Attack that targeted Chinese citizens. He was also linked to Karachi Police Office (KPO) assault.

The incident prompted a promise from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to improve the security of Chinese citizens in Pakistan.

He emphasized that the protection of Chinese citizens remained a highest priority, especially given ongoing China – Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects that are crucial to the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

CTD chief Raja Umar Khattab said the raid was launched based on credible intelligence regarding a terrorist -shelf in the Fatima Society on Ijtema Gah Road.

Police said terrorists opened fire when they discovered they were approaching and triggering a shot fight that lasted over an hour.

All three suspected terrorists were killed, police said, adding that a fully unified suicide jacket, three grenades, a Kalashnikov -rifle, two guns and a large cache of ammunition were regained from the scene.

In addition, police found a diary that listed two to three potential goals of high value.

The second deceased suspect was identified as Qudratullah and the third identity has not yet been confirmed.

The CTD chief said the three killed suspected terrorists belonged to the TTP cell sent from Afghanistan. Intelligence officials had been monitoring the cell for several days, he added.

Khattab also added that the TTP cell is assumed to have five members, but only three were present at Safehouse under the raid.

A search operation in the area and further study is underway.
