If you have used the Audacy app to stream radio stations, podcasts or music through your ROKU device or TV, I have some bad news: Audacy has removed the app from the platform.
It is understandably disturbed many listeners. Audacy is a big fish in the streaming pond that delivers names including CNN, CBS Sports Radio and many more, as well as lots of podcasts and music.
We don’t know why Audacy has decided to pull its app, but Cord Cutters News has some possible explanations: Maybe they didn’t like the terms of their ROKU deal, or maybe it’s part of a focus change that will mean concentrating on fewer platforms. But regardless of the explanation, it means that sound listeners need an alternative – and here are some of the best options.
Which apps are great replacements for Audacy?
There is no lack of audio apps in the Roku Channel Store, and the first one that checks out is iHeart. It is one of the largest radio streamers, with the most popular AM and FM stations from cities over North America as well as a good selection of radio, podcasts and music stations from around the world.
The other big name here is Tunein. Like IHEART, it has a huge selection and includes channels from big names such as NPR, CNN, ESPN Radio and BBC.
Siriusxm Is another well-known name that offers a mix of music, podcasts and chat, and there are plenty of theme music streamers that cover every imaginable niche yacht rock miami, someone?
If you review the music and podcasts section in the channel store, you will also find the big guns for audio flow such as Apple Music (but unfortunately not Apple Podcasts), Amazon Music, Spotify, YouTube (a lot of audio podcasts also upload the video versions to the video streamer) and Pandora.
