There was a scary moment in Baltimore on Tuesday night when George Springer was hit in the helmet with a 96 mph fastball.
Toronto Blue Jay’s outfielder was in the batter’s box at the top of the ninth with Orioles two outs away from a win.
Kade Strowd was on the shock of Toronto, but on the first pitch then jumps from the right hand, it drilled him.

Strowd was visibly upset, and jumping was on dirt for a while as he became a tendency for the staff. Springer went off the field with the help of teachers.
Blue Jay’s manager John Schneider suggested that the situation could have been much worse.
“It got him kind in the shoulder, then helmet, which … Fortunately, he was able to turn a little,” Schneider told journalists after the game.

Schneider said jumping was evaluated at the time of his media availability. He was not in the starting lineup for the first game of their day-night doubleheader on Wednesday.
Blue Jay’s recently placed Catcher Alejandro Kirk on the list of seven-day concussions.
Toronto owns a 5.5-game lead over New York Yankees in Al East as they continue their hot streak, and the bomber’s season continues to slip away.

Springer has had a resurgence this season in Toronto, as his .291 batting average has been his highest since Batting .292 in Houston back in 2019. He is also a home drive shy for his total 19 from the 2-24 campaign.
