Islamabad:
Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) has categorically denied media reports suggesting that party founder Imran Khan had prevented his sons from traveling to Pakistan and called such demands actually wrong and were taken out of context.
The party’s central secretary of Information, Sheikh Waqa’s Acram, rejected the reports on Tuesday and called them misleading and called on journalists, especially those reporting from Adiala Prison, to selectively quote the former prime minister.
“The news circulating in the media about Imran Khan’s children is completely false. Khan has not prevented his children from coming to Pakistan at all,” Akram said in a post on X.

“There should be no doubt that Imran Khan’s children are coming to Pakistan; only the date is left to be decided,” he added, saying that Khan’s sons had already informed their father of their plans and did not seek his permission.
The comments came after some media quoted sources present during a hearing in Adiala Prison, reported that Khan had declared his sons – Sulaiman and Kasim – would not come to Pakistan to participate in the protest scheduled August 5.
In response to such claims, Akram criticized what he described as “selective interpretation” of Khan’s comments and emphasized that only direct quotes should be reported.
“I would urge my friends in the media, especially those reporting from Adiala to convey exactly what Khan says. It is inappropriate to report that his comments selectively or out of context should not interpret them based on personal preferences,” said the PTI secretary, who calls for such propaganda to be avoided as it serves no purpose.

Earlier this month, Khan’s sister Aleema Khan had told journalists that Sulaiman and Qasim would participate in the protest movement. “They will first go to the United States to raise awareness of the injustices that their father is facing and then participate in the movement in Pakistan,” she had said.
Reports also suggested that the brothers had held meetings with key people in the United States prior to their possible arrival in Pakistan.
However, the issue has also drawn reactions from the government. The Prime Minister’s adviser to political affairs Rana Sanaullah warned that Khan’s sons resident in the United Kingdom with their mother Jemima Goldsmith would be arrested if they participated in the protest.
Prime Minister of Interior Talal Chaudhry repeated this view and stated that the brothers would need proper visas to enter Pakistan if they are not citizens. “No individual, local or foreign, are allowed to come to Pakistan and take the law in their own hands,” he said.
