CJCSC holds high -level defense interviews during Egypt Visit: ISPR

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza held a number of high-level meetings during his official visit to Egypt as part of the third round of Pakistan-Egypt defense and security interviews, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.

According to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Mirza called on Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Minister of Defense and Military Production General Abdel Mageed Ahmed Saqr, Admiral Osama Mounier Mohamed Rabie, President of Suez Canal Authority, and Professor Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed El-Tayeb, Grand Imam by Al-Lazh.

The statement noted that discussions focused on improving bilateral military cooperation, regional security, terrorist efforts and broader strategic cooperation.

Both sides repeated their commitment to strengthen military-to-military ties, especially in areas of joint training, defense exercises and institutional cooperation.

In his encounter with the great imam of Al-Azhar, General Mirza emphasized the importance of religious and interreligious harmony in promoting tolerance and inclusive and by tackling the basic causes of extremism and terrorism.

Egyptian leadership paid tribute to professionalism and the operational capacity of the Pakistani armed forces and recognized their victims in the fight against terrorism.

Earlier, after his arrival at the Ministry of Defense, CJCSC was presented with an honorary guard of a quota of the Egyptian armed forces.
