- GMK K12 uses Oculink and USB4 to get EGPU Support completely plug-and-play
- Ryzen 7 H 255 pushes 70W under load, rare in palm size budget mini pcs
- TRIPLE M.2 SSD Slots make K12 unusually capable of handling massive storage arrays
GMK has launched K12, a Mini -PC, priced at 2,099 yuan (about $ 292), designed for users looking for a compact yet expandable system.
Unlike typical budget systems, K12 supports both Oculink and USB4, making external GPU connection a practical reality without changing internal components.
Powered by AMDS RYZEN 7 H 255 GMK K12 has an 8-core, 16-Tray Zen 4-processor with watch speeds ranging from 3.8 GHz to 4.9 GHz.
A small form factor with surprising thermal ceiling height
GMK (originally in Chinese) says that the chip can maintain a 70W powered convoluted under persistent load, placing it well over what is usually expected of small form factor units.
The integrated Radeon 780M GPU handles lighter games and creative workloads, although its real strength lies in supporting external GPU dokes over Oculink or USB4.
One of the core sales points on this unit is its unusually wide storage and memory capacity as it has three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots, each supporting up to 8TB SSDs, bringing total storage to a theoretical 24TB and also comes with two DDR5 slots, supporting up to 128 GB RAM at 5600 MHz.
While such specifications are far beyond what most mini-PC users need, they provide the K12 flexibility to act as an easy workstation or an experimental business PC for data-heavy tasks.
With this very power comes heating problems and the K12 handles this with a double-fan system supported by a steam chamber heat spreader.
GMKS chassis includes double air intake and user -choice cooling profiles: Silent (45W), balanced (54W) and performance (65W).
This approach may not match traditional cooling of workstation, but it provides more control than most systems in its size class.
On the connection page, K12 supports up to four 4K screens via HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4 and USB4, with data transfer controlled through double 2.5g Ethernet ports and Wi-Fi 6E.
In particular, the Oculink port on the front panel allows Tabsless EGPU support, and the USB4 port supports 40 Gbps data rates and 120W power supply.
That said, GMK K12 is not aiming to replace advanced desktops or game towers; It introduces a mixture of affordable prices, enlargement and performance checks that are not often seen at this price.
