A tough week for American Sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson ended with a narrow missed the 200-meter final on Sunday at the United States Free Sports Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

Just a week ago, Richardson was arrested on a charge of violence in the fourth degree of allegedly assault by his girlfriend, colleague Sprinter Christian Coleman, in Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Richardson was booked in South Correctional Entity (score) in Des Moines, Washington, for more than 18 hours instead of doing what she needed to prepare for the biggest week in the field and field across the country.

She continued to compete in the 100 meters opening round, but later retired from the event. But while Richardson has an automatic bid in the World Cup next month in Tokyo, Japan, as the defense champion for the race, she didn’t have the same luxury in 200.

Richardson finished fourth in his heat after running 200 meters of sprint in 22.56 seconds. The top two finishers of each heat progress as well as the next three fastest times. Madison Whyte hardly beat Richardson after driving 22.55 seconds in the same heat.

Richardson, who won bronze in this event at the World Cup in 2023, ran his first 200 meters this season.

As for the alleged domestic violence, Richardson is accused of grabbing Coleman’s backpack, pulling it on and pushing him into a wall that everyone was apparently caught by video surveillance.

Richardson seemed to throw something on Coleman that TSA indicated may have been headphones, according to Associated Press.

“I was told that Coleman did not want to participate further in the investigation and refused to be a victim,” an officer wrote in their police report.

This is Richardson’s second known public airport event after she was previously kicked off by a plane in January 2023 after a dispute with a flight that she said spoke to her in a disrespect.

The 25-year-old also came on global headlines after testing positively for cannabis before the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, where she accepted a one-month suspension of the United States Anti-Doping Agency, making her unjustified to run in the 100-meter race. Nor was she elected to the 4×100 meter staff team that delayed her Olympic debut until the last year in Paris.
