The audience did not initially not be skyve, but when video replay showed it on Jumbotron on the field in Eugene, Oregon, a high reaction occurred.

This is a rivalry between Lyles and Bednarek, the latter of which ended with silver in 200 meters at the Paris Olympics. Lyles ended with bronze in what is expected to be his best event considering his victory over Bednarek at the American Olympic trials in 2024.

Lyles, who had already won 100 meters of gold, hoped to be crowned to 200 meters master and cemented himself as the fastest man in the world. Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo won the race in Paris and marked the country’s first ever Olympic gold medal.

But while Lyles is a three-time world champion, whom one expects to win every race he enters into the starting blocks for, Bednarek had not lost once on the male sprinter circuit this year.

So after Besting Bednarek down the stretch, Lyles knew exactly what he did by looking back on his competition. Bednarek was clearly frustrated at the moment with Skyve and Lyles, his arms out and beam back, added fuel to this rivalry, which will surely be seen on the world scene next month in Tokyo.

During their interview after running together, the excitement was still high as they went back and forth with each other.

“You’re right,” Lyles told Bednarek.

“I expected a call,” Bednarek said back to him. “I’ll tell you if you have a problem I expected a call. That’s all I say.”

“You know what? You’re right,” Lyles replied. “Let’s talk after this.”

When the interview began, it was hard not to ask what the verbal shift was about, though Bednarek said he would say nothing on the field.

“But we have something to do and talk about. That’s all I have to say,” he said.
