Olympic gold medal Sha’Carri Richardson was arrested last weekend for allegedly assault by his girlfriend, colleague Sprinter Christian Coleman.
The couple were on Seattle Tacoma Airport Sunday, when an airport officer was notified by a Transport Security Administration supervisor for a disruption between Richardson and Coleman, according to the police report, via Associated Press.
It is alleged that Richardson grabbed Coleman’s backpack, pulled it, pushed Coleman into a wall and threw headphones on him. The incident took place days before the United States’ freedom championships in Eugene, Oregon.

Coleman refused to be a victim in the case, says a police report, and he made it very clear that he wants to move on from a “sucked situation.”
In fact, Coleman thought the arrest was too far.
“I don’t feel like she should have been arrested. I mean people have discussions and feelings and similar things. She has things that she needs to work on for herself, of course. So do I, so do you, too do everyone. But I’m the type of guy who is expanding grace, and mercy and love,” Coleman told journalists at the weekend at the USATF event.
“I look at situations like this, take a step back, analyze it self-mentally and then just try to see what you can do to be your best self … She is a human being, and a good person. We have been good teammates all year … She has a lot of things going on, a lot of feelings and powers going on inside her who is not only I can understand.

Richardson won 100 at the World Cup in 2023 in Budapest, Hungary and ended with the Silver Medal in the case of Paris Games last summer. She also helped take the 4×100 relay to an Olympic gold.
The 25-year-old was to compete in Tokyo four years ago, but she tested positively for cannabis. She accepted a one-month suspension of the US anti-doping agency, making her unjustified for the 100 meters. Nor was she elected to the 4×100 staff team and delayed her Olympic debut until Paris.
This was not Richardson’s first controversy at an airport. The track star was started from a plane in January 2023 after a dispute with a flight that she said spoke to her in a disrespectful way.
Richardson missed qualifying for the 200-meter final of one hundredth of a second. She has a goodbye in 100 meters after winning the world’s title in that event two years ago.

Both Coleman and Richardson won gold at the World Cup in 2023 for 4×100 meters. Coleman also won the event in 2019 as well as 100 meters.
