Lahore:

On the threshold of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who ends two years in prison, Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) has issued a ‘white paper’ which claims systematic political victim, legal manipulation and human rights violations.

The release came in front of PTI’s scheduled protests on Tuesday.

In a speech with the media, PTI Punjab Media Cell Head Shayan Bashir said: “The protest call 5. August is for peaceful demonstrations, yet our home is violated, our privacy has been violated. In Lahore alone, over 200 attacks have taken place in the last two days.”

He claimed that the authorities were using compulsory tactics, including arbitrary detention, extortion and forced statements. “They pick up people, take bribes or get them to sign statements before releasing them,” he said.

The 13 -page document spanning August 2023 for the current month documents what PTI characterizes as a merciless campaign for oppression.

It quotes at least 186 criminal cases filed against Khan, secret lawsuits in prison rooms, and what it calls abuse of anti -terrorist legislation to stifle dissent. It also claims interference in the February 2024 parliamentary elections.

PTI claimed that Khan’s retention conditions constituted inhuman treatment.
