Rawalpindi:
Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) Patron-in-Chief Imran Khan on Wednesday said no candidates would be field on the seats that became unemployed of disqualified party members and said the disqualifications were performed on “illegal means”.
This was revealed by Imran’s sister, Aleema Khan, who spoke with the media outside Adiala Prison. She said her sister Uzma Khan was allowed to meet Imran and her wife Bushra Bibi.
Aleema quoted Imran as saying he was satisfied with public turnout during the August 5 protests despite what he described as “the state’s oppression and threats”. “He expressed gratitude to the people of standing up in the light of injustice,” she added, noting that Imran was especially encouraged by demonstrations held in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.
The PTI cartridge-in-the-chief allegedly noted that former dictators did not resort to the kind of oppression seen today, dragging a parallel with General Yahya Khan. “Even Yahya shared the country for power, and today the media has been silenced,” Aleema quoted Imran. “Freedom always requires sacrifice.”
Aleema said the former prime minister has given a new protest call to August 14, which called on the public to rise for “genuine freedom” and “the rule of law”, adding that Imran called on his party leadership not to fear arrests or imprisonment.
Imran also sent a message to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government and demanded the cessation of ongoing security operations in tribal districts.
“Operation is performed to breed anger against PTI,” Aleema quoted Imran to say and added that the problems should be solved through Jirgas.
If Ali Amin Gandapur can’t stop the operation, he should think what to do, Imran said as mentioned by his sister.
The PTI cartridge-in-chief also said that no candidates would be field on the seats that became unemployed of disqualified party members, noting that the disqualifications were performed through “illegal means”.
