WANA: At least two people were killed and 14 others were injured when a remote-controlled explosion occurred near a police car in the Wana Rustam Bazar area of the Lower South Waziristan, said Support Superintendent of Police (DSP) Imran Ullah on Thursday.
As police confirm that the wounded also include two police officers, DSP Imran has said that an emergency has been introduced in District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Wana and that two of the wounded were in critical condition.
The incident comes a day after three Frontier Constabulary (FC) staff were martyrated when unidentified attackers opened fire on their vehicle in the Garagri area in Karak in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Separately, a Pakistani army was Major along with two soldiers martyrated by India-backed terrorists in Balochistan’s Mastung district on Wednesday.
In a statement, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that at night between August 5 and 6, targeted terrorists belonging to the Indian Proxy Fitna Al-Hindustan, a security forces vehicle with an improvised explosion device (IED).
The martyred staff was identified as larger Muhammad Rizwan Tahir, Naik Ibni Amin and Lance Naik Muhammad Younas.
The terrorist events come on the basis of increased attacks in Pakistan, especially KP and Balochistan – both of which share a border with nearby Afghanistan.
The country saw a slight decrease in terrorist attacks in June, according to a report released by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), an Islamabad-based think tank.
The organization recorded 78 militant attacks across the country during the month, resulting in at least 100 deaths. Among those killed were 53 security staff, 39 civilians, six militants and two members of local peace committees.
A total of 189 people were wounded, including 126 members of the security forces and 63 civilians.
