The Trump Presidency has been emphasized by consistent but developing threats of tariffs for almost all trading partners and industries – and has now imposed a 100% tariff tax on semiconductors imported into the United States.
The tariffs have an exception for companies that build in America, or have committed to doing so, Pakinomist Reports, perhaps obvious considering the president’s ambition to bring technical presentation and development to home.
As with lots of other Trump plans, these tariffs are not yet wiped out and their parameters are unclear. What is clear, however, is the continued priority of US companies over trading partners despite the US limited chipmaking features.
Investments are growing
A key question is how TSMC will be affected – as the world’s largest chipp producer is based in Taiwan.
Since TSMC has factories in the United States, it is set to receive an exception to the tariff, news that gained a 5% increase in the company’s share price.
Samsung and SK Hynix, two major South Korean companies, are also said to be exempt, with South Korea taking advantage of favorable trade agreements between Washington and Seoul.

This step brings Apple’s total promise to $ 600 billion following a previous obligation to invest $ 500 billion and hire 20,000 US workers in the next four years.
