Animoca Brands, Standard Chartered Establish JV in Hong Kong

Major Web3 Investor Animoca Brands has formed a StableCOin -Joint Venture (JV) With Hong Kong Division of Multinational Bank Standard Chartered (2888).

JV, known as Anchorpoint, also includes Hong Kong Telecom (Hkt) And aims to build a business model for the issuance of licensed stablecoins, according to an E -Mail message on Friday.

Anchorpoint has expressed its interest in applying for a stableecoin issuer license in Hong Kong, which coincides with the highly expected regulatory regime of the special administrative region, which comes into force at the beginning of this month.

The three units have participated jointly in the Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s (HKMA) StableCOin sandbox for over a year in preparation for the regulation.

About 40 companies are expected to apply for a license under Hong Kong’s StableCOin -ordinance, although HKMA -Managing Director Eddie Yue said the regulator would probably approve fewer than 10.

Stableecoins are Krypto -Tokens, which is linked to the value of a traditional financial asset, such as a Fiat currency, usually the US dollar. They have been a central part of the development of regulatory supervision of cryptocurrency in 2025, where the United States is moving to regulate stablecoins under the Genius Act and the emergence of the License regime in Hong Kong.
