PM condemns Israel’s plan to seize Gaza as illegal, false

Islamabad:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday strongly judged the Israeli cabinet’s approval of a plan to take control of Gaza City and call it an illegal and false act. In a statement, he described the move as a dangerous escalation in the ongoing war against the Palestinian people.

“This corresponds to a dangerous escalation in an already catastrophic war against the population of Palestine. This expansion of military operations will only aggravate the existing humanitarian crisis and derail any prospects of peace in the region,” Prime Minister Shehbaz said, emphasizing that such acts are harmful to regional stability.

He emphasized the fundamental cause of the ongoing tragedy and said, “It is Israel’s long -standing, illegal occupation of Palestinian territory. As long as this occupation lasts, peace will remain evasive.”

The leading confirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and sovereign state of Palestine, with al-QD’s al-Sharif as its capital, in accordance with relevant united nations and organization of Islamic cooperation (OIC) solutions.

The Prime Minister called on the international community to intervene urgently and demanded immediate stops for Israel’s aggression, the protection of innocent civilians and the supply of much needed humanitarian assistance to Gaza.

A day earlier, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel is planning to take full control of Gaza, but has no intention of managing it when he called his security cabinet to discuss updated plans 22 months in the war.

The cabinet meeting is coming as Netanyahu faces a mounting pressure in the in -house for a ceasefire agreement to withdraw Gaza’s more than two million people from the edge of famine and to reserve hostages contained by Palestinian militants.

As tension rose, Netanyahu went to the air waves and told us Network Fox News, which the government intends to take full control of the Gaza Strip.

On the question of Israel will take control of “all of Gaza,” Netanyahu said, “We intend to.”

He was expected to seek the cabinet’s approval of an extended offensive that could see earth troops operate in densely populated areas where hostages are believed to be held, Israeli media reported.

Germany stops arms exports

Germany will suspend military exports to Israel, which could be used in Gaza, announced Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

The move marks a major political shift for one of Israel’s strongest allies. Merz said it was “ever harder to understand” how Israel’s new plan would help disarm Hamas or free hostages.

From October 2023 to May 2025, Germany approved at least € 485 million in defense exports to Israel, including firearms, ammunition and special vehicles.

Merz repeated Israel’s right to self -defense, but called for a ceasefire and warned against annexing the West Bank.

The EU is calling for return

The President of Europe -Commission Ursula von der Leyen said Israel “will reconsider” its Gaza plan.

Belgium called Israel’s ambassador to protest on both the Gaza City plan and ambitions in the West Bank.

Other reactions

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen called on Israel to turn the decision and call it “wrong.”

Hamas felt the plan a “war crime” and said that Israel “doesn’t care” with the fate of the hostages.

The UN Human Rights Chief Volker Turk warned that the acquisition would “cause more deaths and suffering” and violated an international court to end the occupation.
