- Avalanche Studios’ smuggler is apparently no more
- The game has ever received a publicly turned CG trailer
- There has been no news about the game in the four years since its message
Xbox Game Studios has canceled Contraband, A game I wouldn’t blame you for not remembering as we’ve only ever seen it once in the form of a CG trailer.
Contraband, being developed by Just cause and Mad Max’s Avalanche Studios was originally revealed in 2021, accompanied by a trailer that did not give much away beyond its cruel 1970s setting.
Originally reported by Bloomberg, it seems that Contraband Has now been canceled or at least got its development stopped at the moment. Reporter Jason Schreier states that the project has been canceled “after four years of radio movement.”
A cancellation at this point may not be so surprising to Contraband, But regardless, it’s not a good look for Xbox. The company recently canceled two high -profile games in Rare’s Everwild And the initiative Perfectly dark Restart. It is in connection with another recent round of mass information, where thousands of employees across several studios were released.
Back in July, Xbox chief Phil Spencer described the actions taken as “hard decisions,” and claimed Xbox’s “Platform, Hardware and Gaming Roadmap has never looked stronger” despite the apparent instability of the Xbox Game Studios umbrella.
