Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has predicted the next spell for monsoon rains from August 13 and issued a flood advice.
According to a spokesman for PDMA, advisers have been issued for Sutlej, Ravi, Chenab and Jhelum Rivers as well as adjacent streams and nullahs warning of potential floods due to the rain.
PDMA warned that the water level in larger rivers over Punjab could rise during the seventh magic form with monsoon rain.
Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and Relevant Departments Throughout the Province, have been asked to remain on duty.
Departments located on high alarm include local government, agriculture, irrigation, health, forests, livestock and transport.
PDMA -Human Director Irfan Ali Kathia instructed all departments to implement the preparations in advance with the Punjab Chief Minister’s instructions.
He said that staff at emergency control rooms should remain on duty 24 hours a day and to save 1122’s disaster team teams should also remain in high alarm.
Authorities have been asked to keep the public updated on the situation, secure the evacuation of houses and livestock from river beds and encourage compliance with issued security measures.
DG, who appealed to the public, advised DG against swimming in rivers, channels, streams and ponds and called for cooperation with the authorities in the event of an evacuation of emergencies.
Citizens have been notified to contact PDMA’s guideline 1129 in case of emergency situations.
