Robbie Brewer dies after medical emergency, crashed on North Carolina Track

Robbie Brewer, a short -track racing car driver, died this weekend after suffering a medical emergency while competing in a race.

Brewer’s vehicle smashed head-on into a wall at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Saturday night. He competed in the 20-step Sportsman Series Race, which occurs every weekend across four departments.

The car stopped near the finish line and the 53-year-old brewery was taken out of it after pitching workers took off.

Brewer was rushed to the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital, where he eventually died, per. Winston-Salem Journal.

“We are saddened by the departure to Robbie Brewer after he was transported to a medical facility in the area after a medical event on the field,” the trace officials said in a statement on Sunday.

“Robbie was a talented and passionate race and highly respected competition among his friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with Robbie’s family and friends at this time.”

Details of Brewer’s medical emergency were not revealed.

Brad Lewis, a co -driver at Bowman Gray, said Brewer “was like a big brother to me, even though we were not so far apart in age.” Lewis’ Race Store was near where Brewer lived.

“He was a Wheelman Thorugh and through,” Lewis added. “I will not only honor him for the rest of the season but as long as we drive out there. He will be missed.”

Brewer has been running on the field that served as a Forsy season NASCAR CUP SERIES EVERYTHING BACK IN FEBRUARY Since 1990.

Brewer made almost 260 Sportsman Division Starts, and he won the championship in 2011, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.
