- Elon Musk claims Apple’s App Store is partial toward Fall
- Sam Altman responds and accuses elon of manipulating x to grok’s favor
- Apple has not responded to any of the requirements
Elon Musk, CEO of XAI, the company behind Taken AI Chatbot, has accused Apple’s App Store of Favorance to Openai in a quick written post about X threatening lawsuits on anti -rust issues.
In the post, Musk writes, “Apple is behaving in a way that makes it impossible for an AI company besides Openai to reach # 1 in the App Store, which is an unambiguous violation of antitrust. Xai will take immediate litigation.”

Further posts from Musk clarify his complaints, including a post attached to the top of his X.com account that reads: “Hey @apple App Store, why do you refuse to put either x or well in your ‘must have’ section when x is the #1 news -app in the world and GROK is #5 among all apps? Do you play politics? What gives?
Musk also provided examples of screens that show how Starting is not mentioned in the various Roundups of AI apps found in the App Store, while competitors such as Copilot and Google Gemini are mentioned.
Altman beats back
Sam Altman, CEO of Openai, was quick to Fold back on X and says, “This is a remarkable claim considering what I have heard claims that Elon does to manipulate X for the benefit of himself and his own businesses and harm his competitors and people whom he does not like.”

Altman links to an article on platforms that claim Musk created a team to change the X algorithm in favor of his own tweets. This claim is based on a comparison between his Super Bowl-Tweet, which expressed support to Philadelphia Eagles, and a similar one of the then President Joe Biden.
Apple’s legal issues with the App Store have already caused a very public spat with Fortnite developer Epic Games in the last few years. Much of the disagreement is centered on the fees that Apple charges apps for running on its platforms. Epic Games has recently won a court match in Australia with the decision that Apple and Google have engaged in competitive behavior regarding the dominance of the app market. Epic has recently confirmed Fortnite will soon return to Apple devices in Australia.
Apple and Openai entered into an agreement in 2024 where Apple integrated chatgpt into Apple Intelligence, enabling Siri to hand over to Chatgpt if a query proved too complicated.
Musk’s complaint about Apple has more to do with the way the App Store promotes some apps over others. In another post on X, Musk says, “Apple is the gate to the Internet for half of America. They make it impossible for any other AI company to succeed by relentlessly promoting Openai in every way possible!”
However, as many people have pointed out on X, in January 2025, however, the Deepseek app reached # 1 collected in the App Store, and confusion reached No. 1 unified in the India’s App Store. Both of these took place after Openai and Apple Partnership announced in June 2024.
Techradar has reached Apple for commenting on this story and will update with further information if the company responds.
