PM Shehbaz waves olive branch with ‘charter for stability’

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday renewed his call to national unity on Wednesday and invited all political parties, stakeholders and civil society to join Misaq-i-Ikam-in-Pakistan as the nation marked its 78th day of independence along with the celebrations to Marka-E-Haq Victory.

The Prime Minister related to a magnificent ceremony in the federal capital and announced the creation of the Army Rocket Force to strengthen the country’s fighting capabilities.

He also inaugurated the symbolic Bunyanum Marsous Memorial.

The special event held at Islamabad’s Jinnah Sports Stadium brought together the country’s top civilian and military leadership, foreign dignitaries and thousands of citizens.

The High-Profile Gathering was Attended by President Asif Ali Zardari, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, First Lady Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General LT Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Federal and State Ministers, MPs and ambassadors from friendly countries.

Shehbaz said Shehbaz said the moment had come to move beyond the political department, personal interests and “empty slogans” and instead adopt a collective mindset to secure the country’s future.

“On this amazing day, I invite once again with an open heart all political parties, stakeholders and civil society to become part of Misaq-i-ikhkam-in-Pakistan [Charter for Stability of Pakistan]”Said the Prime Minister.

Shehbaz explained that the proposed charter was not only a plan to revive the economy, but the basis for a broadly based national agenda. “We must show the world that differences have their own place, but for the sake of our beloved Pakistan we are united,” he emphasized.

He warned that Pakistan would not give way to any new “Fitna” [mischief] After decades of victims in the fight against terrorism. “Protest is a right but not vandalism; criticism is a right but not abuse; politics is a right but not rebellion against the state. We will not allow such elements to take root,” he claimed.

In his speech, the Prime Minister paid tribute to the nation’s basic fathers and ideologues, whose leadership and struggle “changed history and geography” and to the martyrs whose victims formed the fate of the country.

He paid tribute to the armed forces for their “historic” performance during the four-day military confrontation with India in May and described it as a moment when Pakistan’s soldiers “taught India a lesson it will remember for eternity.”

Shehbaz praised Field Marshal Asim Munir as a “great son of the nation” who devised a strategy against India’s “war hysteria” that won recognition from both friends and enemies.

He told how India attacked on the basis of untruths, confident in its military strength, but quickly became humble. “Within four days, India’s pride was buried in the dust,” he said, adding that Pakistan’s forces fought “like a wall of steel”.

Prime Minister also famous the service managers – President Joint Chiefs of Staff General Sahid Shamshad Mirza, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu and head of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf – for their management.

Defense Increase

He also thanked US President Donald Trump for helping to mediate a ceasefire and expressed hope that Trump would play a role in solving Kashmir -blanket in accordance with the United Nations decisions.

The Prime Minister urged the public to remember those who are still under occupation, pointing to the situation of the people of Gaza and Kashmir. “Pakistan has always stood by his principle and with unshakable commitment with the oppressed,” he said.

“The Palestinian question has become a test of humanity’s conscience. We will continue morally, diplomatic and political support until our brothers and sisters in Kashmir and Palestine receive their rights.”

Vision for the future

Shehbaz said that after joining, his government had stabilized a fragile economy and averted default. He pointed out to detect heights in the stock market and a reduction in interest rates as a sign of gradual recovery.

He credited these gains to correct political and military decisions, adding that international institutions had begun to recognize Pakistan’s entry into “a new financial era.” He recognized the collaboration with Field Marshal Asim Munir for formulating both the national action plan and the national financial plan.

Independence Day and Marka-E-HAQ celebrations unfolded with full ceremonial pomp. The event opened with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an and followed by parades from the three branches of the armed forces.

Turkiye and Azerbaiye quotes also joined march-paste, and formations of parade members spelled “Freedom” and “Marka-E-Haq” and formed the national flag. Pakistan Air Force -Fly performed aerobatic maneuvers over the stadium, exciting spectators.

The evening also saw performances from the famous drummer Gumby and it celebrated singer Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan, whose reproductions of patriotic songs lifted the audience’s spirits. Children also performed tableaus for classic national songs and added color to the festivities.

A documentary produced by ISPR and the Ministry of Information was shown, exposed Indian “conspiracies”, emphasized defensive measures and celebrated the victory in Marka-E-Haq.

When the clock hit midnight, the festivities culminated with a spectacular fireworks that enlightened the sky of Islamabad while the National song played, marking the official start of Pakistan’s 78th year of independence.
