Police are rolling extensive security plans for Chehlum -Processions

At the forefront of Chehlum processes scheduled for August 15 (Friday), the Islamabad and Karachi police have eradicated extensive security plans, with thousands of staff deployed in both cities to ensure security and the smooth behavior of religious gatherings.

Inspector of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, during a press conference at Central Imambargah in G-6, said the Islamabad police have created a comprehensive security plan for the Chehlum procession in the federal capital.

The plan has been developed with reference to the last five years of security schemes. To ensure Fele the safety of the procession, a strength of 5,000 officers and staff has been deployed. All divisional tombs, SSPs, SPs and female officers in the Islamabad police are on duty, he added.

Sniper commands have been placed on the rooftops along the processional route and flying private drones in the area are strictly prohibited.

In addition, special units of CTD, police and rangers have been inserted on the front and back of the procession. In addition, 16 QUICK RESPONSE FORCE (QRF) teams from Rangers, 29 QRF teams of CTD and 16 Elite police cars have been stationed to respond quickly to any emergency.

A comprehensive digital monitoring system with modern cameras is active throughout the city. The Safe City project and mobile control rooms are fully operational and play an effective role.

He also mentioned that the Islamabad police have carried out search operations across the city and performed seven rounds of sweeping along the Chehlum procession route. Input points are increased to facilitate participants.

The purpose of all these events, he said, is to give citizens maximum convenience so that they do not face any difficulties during the Chehlum procession. The public is encouraged to cooperate with the police and immediately reports any suspicious activity to the Pucar-15 relief line.

Meanwhile, the Karachi police have also completed a robust implementation plan as part of comprehensive security measures to comply with Chehlum involving 11,479 police officers and staff.

According to details shared by additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi, Javed Alam Odho, a comprehensive security strategy has been introduced to ensure peace and order throughout the city under the religious memorials.

Out of the total deployment, 7,465 police and staff will be stationed along the routes of 108 processions, while 2,901 officers will be on duty on 501 Majalis (religious gatherings). Another 1,113 officers will be deployed to secure 642 Imambargahs over Karachi.

In a high-level directive issued by AIG, all Station House officers (SHOs) have been asked to remain present in their respective jurisdictions, intensify patrol, enforce snap control and secure strict picketing, especially in sensitive areas. The security plan pays special attention to sensitive installations, public places and important governments and private buildings that will remain under high alarm.

The routes leading to the city’s central chehlum procession will be completely sealed and increased security measures have been implemented around Nishtar Park, a focal point for today’s observations.

Input and starting points for Karachi are also closely monitored with coordinated checkpoints and search operations in place. The bombing offers have completed complete sweeps and approval operations at all major venues to prevent any inappropriate event.

Furthermore, Aig Javed emphasized the need for improved intelligence collection and information sharing between agencies down to the police station level. He issued a strict warning that negligence in the implementation of security protocols will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

The police chief reiterated that maintaining peace and public security during the solemn apartment for Chehlum is extremely priority and that all law enforcement units work in full coordination to maintain this responsibility.
