- New photos showing an iPhone 17 Air Dummy -Unit along with Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge
- Apple’s phone looks very slimmer than Samsungs
- However, the camera looks to be sticking on
It looks like we will see a match over the super slim smartphones this year, not long ago, the 5.8mm thick Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge was launched and we expect the iPhone 17 air to follow very soon – a phone that could be even slimmer.
Tipsters have not yet settled on exactly how thick Apple’s upcoming phone will be, with different sources that set it between 5.0 mm and 6.0 mm. But most of the recent leaks place it somewhere in the middle of these numbers, with 5.44 mm, 5.5 mm and 5.65 mm have been made of separate sources.
If the iPhone 17 air comes into one of these rumor thicknesses, it will be slimmer than the Galaxy S25 edge, and although a difference of approx. 0.15 mm – 0.35 mm may not sound like much, a leaked photo suggests the difference in thickness between these two phones really noted.
Be Honest, S25 Edge or iPhone 17 Air? 👀 pic.twitter.com/f81o7q1weiAugust 17, 2025
Shared by @Theonecid shows the images above a Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge along with what is presumably an iPhone 17 Air Dummy device and you can see that the latter looks much slimmer.
That said, it also seems that the iPhone 17 Air’s camera lens may stick a little further than Samsungs, so at the widest point it might not be much leaner. Still, for the most pair, the t iPhone 17 -Air looks impressively thin here.
Coming with compromises
Of course, there are inevitably compromise of having such a slim phone, where the largest rumor is only a camera lens on the back. The Galaxy S25 edge has two, and the standard iPhone 17 is also expected to have two.
In addition, the iPhone 17 air is also likely to have a small battery, so you may have to sacrifice a great deal if you choose Apple’s slimmest phone.
But the possibilities are good. If you want something a little thicker, there is the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and if you are not interested in slim phones at all, there are all kinds of other devices to choose from – including the rest of the iPhone 17 line that we all expect to launch in early September.
