- Two new leaks claim that future Garmin -ure gets lte -connection
- This feature allows you to add smartwatches to a data plan so you can make calls and stream without a phone
- It is a feature included on Apple and Samsung -watches, usually on more expensive models
Two new leaks claim that we could soon be able to make calls, stream music and answer lyrics from some of the best Garmin watches that have not yet been announced – even without an attached phone.
Yes, LTE -connection comes to Garmin -ure, according to separate reports from leakage places Garmin rumors and The5krunner. Garmin rumors collaborated with a site called appsensa that digs into code to discover features of the development. Garmin reportedly goes “all-in” to cellular connection, according to the site.
Listed features include emergency satellite SOS messages, two-way messages, LifeTrack Location Sharing without telephone and voice calls with contacts.
Garmin Messenger, Watch-to-Watch Satellite Messaging Service, is also being expanded. Maybe Garmin Messenger will now be Garmin’s Principal Messaging Client, which is capable of SMS using your data plan and reaching phones as well as other Garmin watches?
The5krunner also reports these claims and states that the obvious starting point is a rumored Fenix 8 Pro, where “Pro” is responsible for the included LTE connection. The best Apple watches and best Samsung watches often come in cheaper Bluetooth-Kun and more expensive LTE compatible variations, so it would make sense for Garmin to follow this pattern.
A big step forward
Garmins has long been considered separate devices for smartwatches as they are more like adventure buddies or training tools than everyday communication devices. However, certain intervals like the Garmin Venu series blur already the lines a bit.
Making watches capable of communication without a phone would mean a huge change in the strategy and would allow more smartwatch-like models, such as Garmin Venu X1, to seriously compete with similar and Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra.
If it’s true, I’m fascinated by seeing what future models get this rumor LTE option. Garmin Venu 4 seems like a no-brainer. A commentator on our Garmin Venu 4 Rumors Hub agreed where he said, “If Garmin Venu 4 ever came with LTE and text message response, it would definitely be a gamechanger. So many current iPhone users would jump on Venu 4 – that would be a dream watch.”
Maybe we will also see the precursor pros with LTE options in the future, as Phoneless Liverrack seems like a good safety tool for triathletes and trail runners performing solo training.
