Ready for another round of new movies and TV shows to watch at home this weekend? I bet you are.
Like last week’s streaming list, there isn’t much to choose from. Still, there’s some great new content to catch on the world’s top streaming services, so I’m sure you’ll find one or more of the seven entries below, covering countless genres, to your liking. Good to see! — Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter
Send Help (Hulu/Disney+)
Look at
Despite the involvement of fan-favorite filmmaker Sam Raimi, I don’t think many people predicted that this cacaway-style survival horror thriller would be one of 2026’s highest-rated new films so far. With 93% critical and 87% viewer ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, though, that’s exactly what it is Send help which is out now on Hulu and Disney+, is.
Starring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien, it follows a meek corporate strategist and her nepo-baby frat-boy boss stranded on a desert island after a plane crash. Cue a take not unlike Lord of the Flies – coincidentally, its latest adaptation is also in this week’s round up – upgrading the balance of power between them in an incredibly faraway part of the world.
One you should seek out if you’re a fan of two-handers, gore and plenty of dark humor and nail-biting suspense. — TP
Lord of the Flies (Netflix)
Look at
As Tom mentioned, a new one Lord of the Flies remake landed on Netflix this week, marking the first time the iconic William Goldman story has been adapted for television.
The four-part miniseries is written by Jack Thorne, the Emmy-winning mastermind behind it Youth. It also marks the screen debut for many of the young cast, who find themselves stranded on an uninhabited island after a plane crash. Attempts to survive soon descend into brutal anarchy, and while it’s a familiar story, I’m excited to see how this adaptation plays out. — Lucy Buglass, Senior Entertainment Writer
Greenland 2: Migration (HBO Max)
Look at
Gerard Butler’s disaster movie is back, baby! In the sequel to the 2020 release Greenlandwhich is out now on HBO Max, picks up in the aftermath of a comet strike that decimated most of the planet. Good weekend to you.
This time the Garrity family must leave the safety of their Greenland bunker to cross a broken world in search of a new home. Obviously, it’s as easy as doing homework in a foreign language. Butler and Morena Baccarin reprise their roles from the first film, but watch out for the sneaky kid cast, as Roger Dale Floyd has been replaced by Roman Griffin Davis. — Jasmine Valentine, entertainment reporter
Citadel Season 2 (Prime Video)
Look at
Three years after its incredibly mediocre debut season arrived, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Stanley Tucci and Richard Madden are back in Citadel season 2.
By the sounds of its plot, it’s back and bigger (but not necessarily better) than ever. In the Amazon TV Original’s latest outing, we find Mason, Nadia and Bernard hiding out across Europe after last season’s finale. But when a terrifying new threat emerges, the three are drawn back into action once again. It wouldn’t be very interesting if we followed them on a sabbatical, would it? All six episodes of Season 2 are available to stream on Prime Video now. — LB
Legends (Netflix)
Look at
Legends is based on the true story of British customs officials in the 1990s who went undercover to infiltrate criminal organizations. Across six episodes, we’ll follow this group of amateurs as they put their lives on the line to bring these gangs to justice.
The Netflix show’s ensemble cast includes Steve Coogan, Tom Burke, Hayley Squires, Aml Ameen and Charlotte Ritchie, who step into the shoes of ordinary people dealing with a terrifying task. The very thought of it already has me on the edge of my seat. — LB
Look at
What do you get when you cross Hollywood legend Sally Field with a captured octopus, voiced by Alfred Molina? An incredibly faithful film adaptation of Shelby Van Pelts Remarkably bright creaturesthat’s what.
Tova (Field), an elderly widow, works the night shift as a cleaner at the local aquarium, but her life changes forever when stranger Callum (Lewis Pullman) arrives in town to solve an old family mystery.
Am I claiming that a sea mollusk is the new Hercule Poirot from Netflix? Possibly. But where there are some serious questions to answer, streaming Remarkably bright creatures is far from hard work. — JV
MIA (Peacock/Paramount+)
Look at
We round out our streaming list with something that delivers the best possible telenovela energy.
MIA follows Etta Tiger Jonze (Shannon Gisela), who wants to avenge her family’s murder and become the most powerful crime queen in South Florida. It sounds pretty procedural… until you factor in the erratic moods that emanate from each episode.
Between epic violence and shocking scandal, there’s a lot going on at any given time here. Luckily for us, it doesn’t give us a moment to think, keeping us on the edge of our seats in the process. You can catch it now on Peacock in the US and Paramount+ internationally. — JV
