At least 13 died, over 4 m affected as Punjab -wheels from severe floods

At least 13 people, including five children, died when floods destroyed Jalalpur Pirwala, where more than 50 villages have been severely affected by the Chenab and Sutlej rivers.

Stores and houses collapsed, thousands of hectares of crops were destroyed, and rescue teams struggled to reach stranded populations, authorities said.

Auxiliary Commissioner Punjab Nabeel Javed said that due to severe floods in Ravi, Sutlej and the Chenab Rivers, more than 4,300 villages have been affected.

He said a total of 4,201 million people have been affected by the flood in the rivers. Of these, 2,163 million stranded people have been moved to safe locations.

In the severe flood districts, 417 relief camps have been established. In addition, 498 medical camps have been established in the affected districts.

In order to provide healthcare services to livestock, 431 veterinary camps have also been established.

So far, 1,579 million animals have been moved to safe places during rescue and relief operations in the affected districts.

The auxiliary commissioner also stated that Mangla Dam is 89 percent full, while Tarbela Dam has reached 100 percent capacity. On the Sutlej River, India’s Bhakra Dam is 90 percent full, Pong Dam is 99 percent full and Thein Dam is 97 percent full.

According to the report, 60 people have lost their lives in recent floods.

Auxiliary Commissioner Punjab Nabeel Javed said that after orders from the Punjab Chief Minister, the minister will be delivered to the citizens for their losses.

Rivers updates

Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported that flooding conditions persist in rivers over Punjab due to heavy rain in the top drainage areas.

“In Ganda Singh Wala, the Sutlej River is in a very high flood with an influx of 261,000 CUSSCS,” said PDMA -Human Director Irfan Ali Kathia. Sutlej was also in high flood at Sulemanki with 137,000 CUSSCS.

Streams in the Chenab River were registered at 69,000 CuseCs in Marala, 108,000 CuseCs in Khanki Headworks, 120,000 CuseCs in Qadirabad, 416,000 CuseCs at Trimmu Headworks and 452,000 CUSERCs at Panjnad, where the river was in very high flood.

In Multan, the authorities warned that the water level in the Chenab River may increase further at all times, and encourage residents to move to safer places.

Discharge of 543,000 CUSERCS from Hovedtrimmu entered the district and pushed the water level over the irrigation department’s meter on 413.40 feet at the head Muhammad Wala.

To reduce the pressure, officials said the Shershah Dam would be broken through explosives, potentially affecting more than 20 villages.

Mnas Abdul Qadir Gillani and Ali Qasim Gillani appealed to residents to leave their homes. Evacuations overnight were performed near Shershah.

The Ravi River registered 28,000 CUSERCS in Jassar, 59,000 CUSCS at Shahdara (Medium Flood), 104,000 CUSSCS at Balloki head works (very high flooding) and 135,000 CUSERCS at Sidhnai Headworks (high flood).

PDMA also warned that the power of the Sutlej River is also expected to rise. The authority said the Indian High Commission had shared flood data with Pakistan and reported high -level floods downstream of Harike and Ferozepur in India.

DG PDMA said the civil administration, the Pakistani army and other departments remained on duty and emphasized, “The protection of citizens’ lives and property must be secured.”

DG PDMA said all departments were on duty under the directives of Punjab Chief Minister. “All available resources are used to protect citizens’ lives and property,” he said.

Railways at risk

Railway men said that violation of Shershah could disturb the Multan -Rawal Pindi track, suspending three services: Mehr Express, Thal Express and a Shuttle to Dera Ghazi Khan.

Mehr Express and Thal Express work via Shershah Chenab Bridge, Muzaffargarh, Kundian and Mianwali against Rawalpindi, while Dera Ghazi Khan -Shuttle passes through Shershah, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu and Taunsa Barrage.

If waters reach the Shershah junction, Multan – Karachi Main Line can also be affected. However, operation on the Multan – Karachi route continues if the main line remains secure.

Monday Morning left Thal Express at. 06:30 for Rawalpindi via Shershah Chenab Bridge, while Dera Ghazi Khan -Shuttle left at 1 p.m. 05:30. If there is a violation before 7 p.m. 16.15, railroad men said that the Mehr Express service for Rawalpindi would be suspended.

Urban updates

Chenab remained in high flood in Muzaffargarh, where the authorities also prepared to break near Shershah. The traffic police closed Multan – Muzaffarh Road and the route to lead Muhammad Wala and cut road connection between Muzaffargarh and Multan.

Bahawalpur

In the Bahawalpurs Jhangeewala area, flooding water broke through a dam in the village of Panoohar overnight, submerged homes and crops. The residents said they were forced to evacuate without help while livestock was left without feed. Great displacement is underway.

In Uch Sharif, dozens of villages were immersed as houses collapsed and settlements went under water. The affected areas included Bet Ahmed, Bukhtiyari, Kachi Lal and Rasoolpur.

Residents reported serious difficulty evacuating how many families are still caught in homes. “Our houses are collapsed and we are surrounded by water. Rescue of us,” the locals pleaded. Families said they could not evacuate with children due to high flooding water, while food shortages aggravated the crisis.

Clean water

More than 100,000 bottles of 19 liters have each been delivered to flooded districts as the supply of clean drinking water expanded, the housing department said, adding that the effort is carried out through Punjab as the Pani authority.

So far, 727,000 liters of water have been distributed over flooding areas, which benefits 242,333 people. On Sunday alone, 187,500 liters were delivered. The authority also distributes ultrafiltration hand pumps to affected communities.

“All relevant institutions work together to ensure that citizens’ safety and to provide safe drinking water to flood victims remains our highest priority,” a housing department spokesman said, adding that emergency measures were taken to facilitate the difficulties of the affected.

Police evacuations and rescue efforts

Punjab police continued rescue and relief operations in flood districts. Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar said the strength ensured evacuation and protection of both citizens and livestock.

More than 16,000 officers and staff, 747 vehicles and 40 boats are involved in the operations. According to a police spokesman, over 500,000 people have been evacuated so far, including 215,798 men, over 152,000 women and 132,978 children.

In addition, 584,474 livestock has been moved to safer areas. The division of evacuations includes 159,930 people in the Multan region, 71,343 in Faisalabad, 62,355 in Dera Ghazi Khan and 54,775 in Sahiwal.

IG Punjab urged citizens to cooperate with the police under evacuations “to protect precious human lives.”

Minister reviews events

Provincial Minister of Communications and works Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth President of a meeting to review flooding events, including relief, alternative routes, installation of signs and machinery.
