Quetta:
The death toll from Thursday’s deadly explosion near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Chaman rose to six as a more wounded succumbed to his wounds, confirmed medicine at Chaman Civil Hospital on Friday and said three others remained during treatment.
The explosion took place near a taxi stand in the refugee camp area close to the border frequented by travelers and locals. Police sources described the explosion “a suicide blast” that required life for at least five people.
The original reports stated that four people had died, but two of the wounded succumbed to their wounds while moving to the hospital, the officials said, adding that movement across the border had been stopped as the investigation of the explosion continued.
The border ending along with the suspension of the Internet services in the city and adjacent areas have left hundreds of Afghan families stranded in burning heat. Long queues of vehicles have been formed on both sides.
Security has been tightened at the Chaman boundary in the wake of the bombing, where the security staff maintains high vigilance.
