- WAZE announced a new conversation — reporting feature last year
- It now reaches many more users – though not everyone likes it
- The feature allows you to report road events that use your voice only
A year ago, Waze announced a new Gemini-driven conversation reporting feature that would allow you to report events and events with your voice, and it seems that it is now being rolled out for most users self-not all are happy with it.
The idea is that you can share details of road closures, accidents and other information with your fellow drivers just by talking to your car panel. It’s easier than trying to press buttons on a screen
“All you have to do is press the reporting button and speak naturally as if you are chatting with a friend,” explains the WAZE team. “Waze will understand what you are saying, and quickly add a real -time report to the card for you.”
The AI and Gemini part of the process are to recognize the danger you describe, even if you do not use a preset row of words or exactly the right language and assign it to the relevant event category without having to do anything else.
Thanks but no thanks

The feature has been beta -tested with a limited number of users in the last 12 months, but as 9to5Google and Android headlines have seen, it seems now that many more users (although there have been no new messages from WAZE).
Early reactions have been mixed to say mildly, according to Waze subreddit. There are several complaints about an annoying pop-up asking to turn on the feature and users are not happy with interruptions in their music or podcasts.
Even when turned on, it seems that conversation reporting does not always act as advertised and does not always identify the incident that is reported. Some users suggest that an app startup may be needed to make everything work properly.
As it is early days for the feature – the year of beta testing despite – these original errors and problems will hopefully be resolved in the coming days. In theory, it should mean a safer and more practical user experience once it is underway.
