- Microsoft has teased that “something big is coming” tomorrow
- Whatever the Windows 11 feature is it will give your hands a rest
- It is a clear tip about minor entry and voting commands seems most likely
Microsoft teases a big revelation for Windows 11 tomorrow, and it apparently relates to pushing the keyboard aside – or at least using the peripheral less.
Windows Central noted that the official Windows account on X released a cryptic message about the hands of Windows users who got some time free and rest and that there will be “something big” announced on Thursday, October 16.
Your hands are about to get some pto 👋 time to rest these fingers … something big is coming Thursday 👀October 14, 2025
This is clearly referring to writing, and in response to someone who sent that they like to use their keyboard, the Windows account said, “Don’t worry, no keyboards were injured.”
This makes more sense when viewed through the lens of the comments, a few Microsoft leaders have done in recent times how we interact with Windows 11.
First of all, Microsoft’s Corporate VP for us Security, David Weston, Observed that in the future of Windows, “the world of mouse around and writing will feel as strangers as it does for gen-Z to use MS-DOS” and that voice commands and talking to the PC will be more important.
Then Pavan told Davuluri, VP for Windows and Devices at Microsoft,: “You will be able to talk to your computer while writing, colors or interacting with another person. You must be able to get a computer semantic to understand your intention of interacting with it.”
Analysis: A choice for voice
So these remarks that voice input are more important for Windows 11, combined with this new reference to writing less often, are certainly an indication that Microsoft will reveal something bigger in these lines.
In addition to Windows 11’s Voice Access feature, Microsoft has brought voice insurance in Word, and it works very well, I might add-this is an improved version of Dragon’s speech-to-text technology (which I’ve used a lot in the past and was impressed with just then).
Some additional progress has also been taken with voting commands on Copilot+ PCs, and given that this makes me wonder how much these potential new vocal forces may have been tied to AI-and may require an NPU for responsive treatment on device.
Time will show, but fortunately we don’t have long to wait – I’m definitely eager to see what Microsoft is cooking here.
