Pakistan International Airlines has entered into a cargo agreement with Riyadh Air, the newly established Saudi Arabian airline.
According to a spokesperson of the national carrier, under the agreement, cargo will be transported from Pakistan and London to Riyadh, from where it will be distributed to other destinations through the combined networks of both airlines. The agreement enters into force on 29 October.
The spokesperson said the arrangement is aimed at expanding PIA’s cargo operations and increasing the airline’s revenue. The collaboration will also contribute to meeting the increasing global demand for air freight services.
The spokesperson added that PIA already maintains a cargo partnership with British Airways through which around 1,000 tonnes of cargo is transported to the UK annually. The deal with Riyadh Air, he said, is part of PIA’s broader business strategy to strengthen its cargo network.
