Madonna dodges questions about Kylie Minogue collaboration

Madonna refused to confirm or deny whether Kylie Minogue will appear on her upcoming album Confessions II, and she did so with the kind of smile that suggests the answer might well be yes.

The two pop icons appeared together on the BBC’s The Graham Norton Showairing on Friday, June 26, with host Graham Norton putting them both on the spot.

“There are rumors that Kylie is on Confessions II. Are you the one confirming that rumor?” he asked Madonna directly. The 67-year-old replied that it was her “job to be mysterious.”

Minogue, 58, let out a laugh, noting that Madonna is “good at diverting,” which, as non-denials go, is a fine contribution.

The look brought together two of pop’s most enduring figures, and the chemistry between them was unmistakable.

The pair reflected on their moment together during Madonna’s Celebration Tour show in Los Angeles in May 2024, where they performed Minogue’s hit Can’t get you out of my head together.

“What a moment. I absolutely loved it,” said Minogue.

Minogue had spoken PEOPLE in December about the possibility of a studio collaboration, said at the time that there had been no discussion, but left the door open.

“Of course I would,” she said of working with Madonna.

“So there hasn’t been any discussion, but if it were to happen that would be great.” Apparently a lot has happened since December.

Confessions IIJuly 3rd is shaping up to be an important moment for Madonna.

Elsewhere in the Norton interview, she was shown working in the studio and reflecting on her creative process.

“It’s kind of like I’m obsessed. The ideas come when I’m not trying too hard,” she said. She also described the track One step away which comes “from the soul”.

Whether or not Minogue’s voice will appear on July 3 is deliciously unconfirmed so far.
