Chief Staff Officer of Bangladesh Armed Forces Division Lt. Gen. SM Kamrul Hassan has called on the Defense Secretary, retired Lt. Gen. Muhammad Ali in Rawalpindi.
The discussion was focused on expanding bilateral defense cooperation covering all domains.
Speaking on this occasion, Defense Minister said that Pakistan highly values its relations with Bangladesh.
The visiting dignitary expressed Bangladesh’s wish for lively days of cooperation between two countries.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the ongoing cooperation between two countries and aimed to strengthen cooperation in mutually beneficial areas.
Earlier, a top Bangladeshi military official, Lieutenant General SM Kamr-ul-Hassan, visited Pakistan on Tuesday, marking a rare visit by a senior Bangladeshi general.
He visited the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where he met Pakistan’s military leadership, including Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza.
The visit signals a thaw in bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh, which had been strained during Sheikh Hasina’s 15-year rule.
Since Hasina’s ouster in August, ties have improved and both nations have increased their diplomatic and military engagements.
The meetings focused on developing regional security dynamics, strengthening military cooperation and strengthening defense relations.
Both sides stressed the importance of a resilient defense partnership and joint efforts for regional peace and stability.
Lieutenant Hassan praised Pakistan’s military for its professionalism and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, further underscoring the growing cooperation between the two countries.
