At least 40 people – including women, children and senior citizens – were injured during April after being hit by stray bullets
KARACHI:
The uncontrolled use of firearms in the city continues to endanger the lives of citizens, with people feeling unsafe both on the streets and even inside their homes due to bullets fired from unknown directions.
According to a report, at least 40 people – including women, children and senior citizens – were injured during the month of April 2026 in different areas of the metropolis after being hit by stray bullets. The alarming number of incidents highlights not only the widespread availability of weapons but also their indiscriminate and illegal use, raising serious questions about law enforcement performance.
Police data indicates that these incidents took place across several localities including Lyari, Orangi Town, New Karachi, Liaquatabad, Korangi, Nazimabad, Baldia Town and others. Victims ranged from as young as 12 to elderly people in their 70s, many of whom were struck while at home, on the roads or in public places.
