- Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 seems to have leaked fully
- It seems that Samsung could ditch its iconic circle for a design closer to the Apple Watch
- Both the 8 and the 8 classics are depicted with a ‘squircle’ body
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 seems to have leaked fully, which reveals that the company could be set to introduce a massive design change.
The leak follows the advent of the One UI 8 Watch update, which has revealed some major software changes coming to Galaxy Watch, including Gemini AI.
As discovered by Android Authority, animation files reveal to the new models buried in the code for the upcoming software relancing, designed by the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic, both of which seem to have a ‘squircle’-shaped body.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Design
The best smartwatches on the market, especially the best Apple Watches, all have a square design that is more easily suitable for a portable user interface. In my experience, circular wear and tear has a tendency to have poorly distributed, wasting designs that never feel as effective as Watchos.
But if these design leaks are accurate (these can also be placeholder pictures that do not reflect the final design) – Samsung adopts the square chassis in the Galaxy Watch Ultra, while the circular view of the classic range is the worst of both worlds.
The pictures clearly show a Galaxy Watch 8 and 8 classic that looks like Ultra and Myriad Apple Watches, which would be a huge shake from the current design.
As the report notes, the Galaxy Watch 8 will be set to keep its two buttons while the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic Looks set to add Ultra’s fast button.
A firmware video also shared by AA clearly reveals a Galaxy Watch 8 with a square design. The report also notes that the files “do not appear to be space holders” but does not exclude the option.
If these images are the right deal, the Galaxy Watch 8 could mark the end of an era of Samsung, with the retirement of its iconic circular design leaving Pixel Watch as the best Android smartwatch still embraces the circular chassis.
With Galaxy Watch 8, which is expected to be launched in July, we don’t have long to wait until we find out.
