Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has suffered another unexpected setback at his home in Norfolk, with a nearby nature reserve issuing a severe bushfire warning as dry conditions continue to grip the region.
Wild Ken Hill nature reserve, less than five miles from Marsh Farm on the Sandringham estate, has raised its fire risk level to “extremely high”, warning that tinder-dry soil and rising temperatures have created dangerous conditions.
His new home is located in King Charles’ vast 20,000-acre Sandringham estate, surrounded by landscape that has become a key feature of the area.
Wild Ken Hill shared the alert with residents on July 17, urging visitors and locals to take extra care as the warm weather increases the risk of fires spreading quickly.
“With the ground tinder-dry and temperatures rising again, the wildfire risk at Wild Ken Hill and across the country is EXTREMELY HIGH right now,” the reserve said.
The warning echoes the devastating bushfire that hit the nearby Coastal Park near Snettisham Beach in July 2022, during Britain’s hottest day on record.
The fire, driven by strong winds, destroyed about 33 hectares of coastal habitat before firefighters, reserve personnel and local volunteers brought it under control.
Investigations following the 2022 fire found several potential causes, including discarded glass bottles, aluminum cans, disposable barbecues and evidence of wild camping.
“Please help us protect this place. It is both rich in nature and a green space for all of us to enjoy,” the organization said.
It comes amid reports that King Charles has no plans to include him in the royal family’s summer gathering at Balmoral.
