Ubisoft has revealed Assassin’s Creed Black Flag resyncan expansive remake of the fourth Assassin’s Creed game.
Developed by Skull and bones studio Ubisoft Singapore, the iconic title has been completely rebuilt using the latest version of the company’s Anvil game engine. It features a completely reworked combat system that sees protagonist Edward Kenway wield dual swords, pistols and the iconic hidden blade.
Designed with speed and agility in mind, it looks like a cross between the fights of the original Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag and those of last year Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Parkour has also been improved with more reactive movements that should make jumping around the environment look and feel significantly smoother.
Stealth was another area of focus, and players will finally be able to crouch freely to sneak around undetected. Those notoriously frustrating tail and intercept missions have also been revamped, removing the instant ‘game over’ screens and replacing them with new target reactions that force players to adapt their approach.
In the reveal trailer, game director Richard Knight explained that the goal is to “deliver a faithful and enriched experience based on what players loved” from the original game.
“Every little moment of the game had to be rebuilt and crafted,” said creative director Paul Fu. “It required a lot of craftsmanship, especially the facial animations, but it’s important because it’s the soul of the game.”
“No remake would be complete without additional content,” he continued, revealing that the remake will feature “all-new chapters and all-new missions.”
He also explained that the team “never got close Resynchronized as a reinvention” and the team are keen to keep.”
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag resync is set to launch on July 9, 2026.
