Lamine Yamal was injured when he converted a penalty in Barcelona’s Spanish league match against Celta Vigo on Wednesday.

Lamine Yamal is suspected of having a torn hamstring, according to club sources via ESPN, with the severity and timeline for recovery pending the results of scans scheduled for Thursday.

Yamal scored Barcelona’s first goal in the 40th minute and immediately looked to the bench and signaled that he was injured.

He fell to the ground as his teammates arrived to celebrate, appearing to clutch the back of his left leg.

Yamal left the field on his own after being attended to by doctors. He spoke briefly with coach Hansi Flick on the sidelines before walking into the locker room tunnel alone.

The 18-year-old Yamal will make his World Cup debut with Spain in June.
