New details about Britney Spears’ DUI arrest in March have emerged.
According to the arrest report obtained by US Weekly on May 20, the pop princess was pulled over near her home in Ventura County after police received complaints about a driver allegedly “traveling at high speeds and swerving.”
The report claimed officers saw Spears’ vehicle cross into another lane several times before she was stopped around 10 p.m. 21.00 on 4 March. During the interaction, police claimed they smelled alcohol coming from the car, although Spears reportedly said she had only consumed “one champagne mimosa” several hours earlier.
The Poisonous The hitmaker also allegedly told officers: “I could probably drink four bottles of wine and look after you, I’m an angel.”
According to the report, Spears, 44, revealed that she had taken Lamictal, Prozac and Adderall earlier that day. Officers also claimed they found a bottle labeled “Adderall,” which was not prescribed to her, along with an empty wine glass inside the vehicle.
Police further claimed that Spears initially refused to leave the car, saying she had been “picked on and harassed in the past.” The report described Spears’ “drastic mood swings” throughout the meeting, adding that she sometimes spoke with a British accent.
On April 30, Spears was officially charged with one count of DUI. However, that charge was later dismissed when Spears instead accepted a “wet reckless” plea deal since there was no crash or injury.
The singer has been sentenced to 12 months’ probation and one day’s imprisonment. She must also complete a mandatory DUI class and see mental health professionals frequently.
